Andy James

(From Play)

Andy James wanted to be a cowboy
And live his life the cowboy way
Andy James always kept his gun ready
To kill off the bad guys his way

Riding high with expectations,
Andy had a trusty steed
He would claim one day all would know his name
And his deeds

In the paper, there was news of trouble,
And Andy was eager to read
It seemed an outlaw had made his way to town
And wanted to make someone bleed

Andy had no real direction,
But he knew his time was near
He could see that he never would be free
With his fear

I took a chance
And it changed my whole life
I couldn't stare very long at
Spaces around me
I want to run with the wind so that I can remember
That I can fly too

Open your eyes and see that
Everything's okay,
Meant to be that way
Everything's okay

Andy James, meanwhile, did meet his outlaw
He never once spoke in his hate
The out-of-towner claimed a misunderstanding
And tried to make sense of his fate

He was weary from his journey,
Only had nice things to say
To his son, now he's reaching for his gun
He's too late
Andy James
